Personal view and reflection about the CET training, Otsu city
Seta Junior High School
I had no confidences with my English proficiency. But, it has changed clearly in these two weeks in the Philippines. “Just talk !!” This word which one of my lecturer’s teachers said was a trigger.
Though I was an English teacher, I have never studied English abroad. So I worried about my English slightly and often became negative to communicate with others in English.
But now I noticed it is the most important to communicate with someone in even doubtful English, when I was in a good opportunity like this. The approach which I struggle to make communications without sufficient vocabulary will make us good English speakers.
Our teachers always payed attention to IPA. They confronted with me thoroughly until I could also pronounce right to my pronunciation. I felt hard to pronounce especially,θand ð, r and l , and vowel ӕ, ɑ, ʌ, ə, ɔ. I was surprised at the difference of pronunciation about m, n, ŋ.
And they made me an enough moment to think about questions, so I could answer them in my own words, and be a good English speaker. Then I could know‘tongue twister’ which I can return for my students to check their English pronunciation and fluency. I felt that it was successful and meaningful training.
In our training, we studied about Teaching Knowledge Test from Cambridge (TKT). That would be able to be one of needed standard qualification. It was needed to change education of English in Japan. While being close, I’d like to challenge that.
Furthermore, we went to DSWD and met children on Saturday. I really felt that Education can be helpful to them. Japan and Philippines have to cooperate with each other to settle the respective educational problems. I will continue to study English and think about the problems.
On this training, a lot of people made the support and the cooperation for us. Thank you very much for everything.
